Having warmed the masses up with a series of singles, next month will reportedly see Jennifer Hudson release her third studio album.
An important set for the Oscar and Grammy winner, all eyes will be on whether it can cement her status as a major name in the music arena in the way the aforementioned awards have done for her in the acting sphere.
And while the fate of the LP remains to be seen, its title is now known.
Speaking with WGPC in Washington, DC this week, the American Idol alum revealed what the project has been christened.

Set to arrive mid-August, the LP has is titled…
‘JHUD’
Explaining the name, the R&B belter said: “It’s different expressions of me as an artist, a girl, a music lover”. {Source}

Here’s hoping it’s a case of third time’s a charm. Because, while Hudson has a growing array of great tracks, many are still trying to establish where to “place her” in the über crowded music marketplace. Put simply, the project (which features production from the likes of Timbaland and Pharrell) is tasked with defining the artist JHUD is. Fingers crossed that it delivers.

I love Beyonce but I hate her fans. You are such negative and mentally unstable people. You are all still mad that J Hud got the Oscar and Beyonce never will get one for acting. Let it go. J Hud doesn’t need you and still has a career. Even if the album flops, her phone will still ring and she keeps a gig whether it’s tv, movies, endorsements, awards shows, tributes or singing for the President. So you lost this one.
Here’s the thing with my love and hate of Jennifer Hudson. Her voice is incredible, she looks amazing, this girl can really sing anything you throw at her, she’s an of note and actually damn good actress and did I mention she’s beautiful? These are the reasons why I love Jennifer Hudson. Now here’s why I hate Jennifer Hudson. I don’t feel like she’s found her sound. It takes artist a long time to find their sound sometimes, but considering her age as a singer alone I just feel like she should know who she is vocally, be able to control it a little better, and pick better material. We get it you have this amazing, and incredibly big voice, but it isn’t needed or necessary on every song, especially the singles. There are so many different elements to her voice that I don’t see her having tapped into as of yet. Truthfully speaking VOCALLY this girl is the new aged Aretha Franklin, she doesn’t need a title because that voice speaks for itself, but range, tone, and quality thats little ReRe all damn day. Her material is whats lacking. What I question however isn’t Jennifers ability to shine through her music but the music itself. I often wonder have we lost the MUSIC in MUSIC business. Everything seems to be just that – BUSINESS. WHERE’S THE MUSIC. Too many times we have allowed these record labels to throw at us MANUFACTURED entertainment, a look a beat and hook, with no real talent behind it. So when producers of the new era, and even some of the old era (the 90’s) encounter a singer such as Jennifer Hudson what she has to pick from has to be slim to none. Im not saying big ballads, but she needs to pick up some soul. Her music would be received a lot better by her fans, nay sayers, and fence riders alike if it had a lot more soul to it. It’s whats missing from the radio. Which is why REAL music lovers flock to other artist. I nice beat, cute face, and a hook are ok every now and again, they serve their purpose and should be equally respected, but ain’t nothing like soul music. Jennifer Hudson has one of those voice that the right lyric, melody, and bridge will send the song completely through you and straight up the charts, I don’t think she’s had that. Yet when you hear her tribute other artist and sing “those type” of songs she’s executes flawlessly and it makes you want to hear it again, and go dig up the original just to get the feel of it. Thats the epitome of a GREAT singer. Long story short(yeah right…) I just feel like her material is lackluster and I’m hoping this album doesn’t sound like those two singles because I hate them both. I she’s going in the right direction (retro) but she needs to go further lol… 50’s 60’s 70’s when you actually had to know how to SING to have a damn record deal. Just throwing this out there (starving artist I am) I will write the damn song myself lol and $10k says its a number one hit. #thatsmyword
